AHHS YOUTH MEDALLION SHOWMANSHIP IN HAND VIDEO
Open to junior exhibitors under 18 years of age in the Pleasure Driving Pony/Horse, Roadster Pony, Roadster Under Saddle, Pleasure Pony/Horse Under Saddle, Youth Hackney/Harness Combination, Country Pleasure Driving, Pleasure Driving Pony/Horse (Reinsmanship), and Showmanship In-Hand Pony/Horse divisions. By qualifying in local medallion classes, a combination of junior exhibitor and pony may compete in the National Medallion Championship Finals vying for the national title in each division, and scholarship awards. This program encourages youth involvement with Hackneys as they are acquiring show ring skills, developing friendships and competing for the prestigious title of Youth Medallion National Finalist. A special medallion is awarded to winners of local medallion classes and certificates of qualification are sent to each entry. The National Final will provide special gifts and events for all participants along with national recognition. 1995 brought the addition of two new divisions, the Roadster Pony Under Saddle and Hackney/Harness Combination Class. Now the pony that is shown in the Ladies or Amateur division can also compete with the youth, encouraging family participation.
For listings of shows offering the classes or information on adding a class to any horse show, please contact the AHHS office. The National Medallion Championship Finals are held at the UPHA American Royal National Championship in Kansas City, Missouri.

JUNIOR EXHIBITOR INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Hackney Pony Junior Exhibitor Incentive Program
(Sponsored by the United States Equestrian Foundation)
The American Hackney Horse Society is pleased to continue the Junior Exhibitor Incentive Program, which is geared towards the most important part of our society, our youth. Youth are the most important aspect to the Hackney Pony breed because they are the future of the breed. Without the interest of youth within this industry there will be no future for the Hackney Pony breed. The Junior Exhibitor Incentive Program recognizes the importance of getting youth interested in not only the breed's show ring aspects, but also in the training and breeding of Hackney Ponies.
Thanks to the United States Equestrian Foundation, the AHHS is going to have the opportunity to invest in their youth. However, this money will not simply be handed out; rather, it will be earned. The AHHS will be giving two $800 awards which recipients can either use for their education or to be invested in their ponies. Youth who meet the following requirements are eligible for the awards:
The winners will be selected by a three-person committee on the basis of how involved applicants are in the Hackney Pony world and their plans for future involvement with the breed. The most eligible and deserving youth will receive this award with no regard to the parental salaries of applicants. We wish to reward youth for their hard work and dedication to the breed as well as their involvement in school and community activities.
Applications can be obtained by contacting Brian Yount (firstname.lastname@example.org) 937-564-8141 . Once you have received the application, you will have until December 1 to have it submitted and the winner will be awarded at the Limited Breeders Auction in March of the following year. We wish all applicants the best of luck.
STEPHENS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Stephens College is offering an outstanding incoming freshman female representative of the American Hackney Horse Society a tremendous opportunity to obtain an equestrian based liberal arts education through a very simple process. Using the profile that Stephens College provides, your association chooses 2-5 potential scholarship recipients. Each potential recipient fills out the attached equestrian application in addition to applying for admissions to Stephens. Upon acceptance to Stephens, the Stephens College Equestrian Studies faculty will evaluate each applicant and choose the best fit for the program. Each scholarship recipient will receive an equestrian leadership scholarship that can be reapplied for each year. The deadline for Stephens College to receive the 2-5 applications from the AHHS is January 15 of the upcoming academic year.
