The deadline to submit your nominations for the 2024 AHHS Annual Awards is Friday, November 8, 2024. These prestigious awards are given out at the Annual UPHA Convention being held in New Orleans, LA, January 8-11, 2025. Awards categories and descriptions are below. Please submit nominations to the Awards Committee on or before November 8, 2024 by email at HackneyAwards@gmail.com. Or, by mail to Steve Kildow 11773 North 200 East Alexandria, IN 46001 Please remember to include the name of the award, the name of the individual, and an explanation of why you think this individual should receive the award. AWARD CATEGORIES Gwen Stableford Lifetime Achievement Award Honors a person for his or her lifelong contributions to the Hackney industry, dedication to the improvement of the breed, demonstration of their love for the Hackney in or out of the show ring, and support of American Hackney Horse Society. Anna Lee Spires Judd Amateur Exhibitor Award Awarded to an exhibitor of Hackneys whose performances in the show ring set standards of competition, sportsmanship, and appeal to the general viewing public. John H. & Maybelle L. Costello National Breeder Award Awarded to a breeder of Hackneys who has created an impact on the breed as a whole by adding valuable characteristics and improving the Hackney through its development. This honoree will have raised notable individuals whose progeny have gone on to great success both in the show ring and breeding world. Junior Exhibitor Award Awarded to a junior exhibitor who through his/her efforts has encouraged other youths to participate in the Hackney breed. This individual must exhibit outstanding sportsmanship, suitability to the division in which they participate, presentation of the entries shown, and work to enhance the promotion of the breed through their representation. Lydia Luhman Pederson National Distinguished Service Award Awarded to a member of the American Hackney Horse Society who without compensation contributed his/her energies into the improvement of the AHHS, its activities, and membership. Spirit Of The Youth Medallion National Award Awarded to a youth who has demonstrated an exceptional desire to participate with a Hackney. Nominees should be participants in the Youth Medallion Program in the current year. The first award was given in 2002. Bill G. Robinson National Trainer Award Awarded to a trainer or training team who personify the training and exhibiting of Hackneys for the year. The memorial award was first given in the year 2001. Elsa Mikkelsen Distinguished Service Award Awarded to a member of the American Hackney Horse Society who has contributed his/her energies to the promotion of the Hackney Horse or Pony.

The AHHS Limited Breeders Sweepstakes held on March 8 & 9 at historic Fasig-Tipton was a huge success! Approximately 140 people attended the Friday evening social event held in the Fasig-Tipton walking ring and enjoyed the taco bar catered by Holly Hill Events and the live music. On Saturday morning, the AHHS Annual General Membership meeting was held in the Sale Pavilion, followed by a luncheon, which was impeccably catered by Holly Hill Events. After the luncheon, the stallion service auction was held. There were 49 quality stallions available for bid. The stallion service auction raised $54,225. A live merchandise auction and silent auction were held concurrent with the stallion service auction and raised $18,900 and $5,570 respectively. The Freedman Harness raffle sold out and raised an additional $5,000. The total raised was $83,695. The AHHS and the AHHS Limited Breeders Sweepstakes Committee sends a huge thank you to all of the sponsors, stallion donors, attendees, bidders, and buyers who made this another outstanding year! Planning has already started for 2025!

During the AHHS Board meeting in January 2024, the Board discussed the fee schedule. It was noted that the last fee increase was in 2012. After further discussion, a motion was made to accept the fee increases of the items listed below. The motion passed unanimously among the Board to go into effective on March 1, 2024. The changes to the fee schedule are as follows: One year Senior Membership $75.00 NEW Three Year Senior Membership $200.00 Yearly Junior Membership (17 years of age and under) $35.00 NEW Career Junior Membership (8-17 years of age) $125.00 Weanling, if submitted by December 31 of foaling year $50.00 Imported, if registered within one year of importation $200.00 Imported, if registered more than one year after importation $300.00 DNA typing $65.00 DNA Conversion $35.00 Transfer Within 90 days of sale $50.00 NEW Rush Fee $100.00 You may review the full fee schedule by clicking here: https://mcusercontent.com/.../d00.../Fee_Schedule_3.1.24.pdf
